About

Howdy! My name is Serena Romero, and I am a cartoonist from Austin Texas.

Art has always been a big part of my life. My father is a professional caricature artist, so growing up, my family traveled to all sorts of Texas festivals around the state. Eventually, I learned to draw caricatures as well, and now we work as a team, drawing at various events, such as the UT football games, baseball games, school carnivals, business parties, etc. Through this, I’ve gotten the chance to meet a lot of amazing people and visit some neat places.

In college, I studied cultural anthropology and digital arts/media at the university of Texas. There, I learned the tools I needed to do digital illustration and animation. I also did a weekly comic for the university’s student newspaper, The Daily Texan (Which can be found on the comics page) for four years. This experience really taught me how to work fast and effectively, and how to tell a succinct, visual story in a limited space.

Currently, I continue to work as a caricature artist, as well as develop multiple comic projects. I love learning new stuff and am continuously looking for ways to improve my art skills. Overall, I just love drawing people and telling stories.
